Prepare for the Unexpected

Hey everyone, I’m starting a new thing with this site, I’ll be doing blogs! This seems a bit of an old school thing to do but I thought it might be something you all enjoy. My goals are just to document my photo shoots and my photography trips in a different format to my usual Instagram post or photo sharing. Of course, I will include photos in these blogs but it’s going to consist of a lot more of my experiences and why I choose locations and things such as that. So let’s kick this off with a pretty important photoshoot I did recently for an engagement. With this shoot a set location was planned ahead of time and we had the day planned out, although the location wasn’t my decision I thought it was the perfect spot and make for great photos. However when I got to this spot it was way busier than expected and this just goes to show never plan on a specific spot in case something doesn’t work out. The couple wanted something a bit more secluded and not to have people watching so instead we took off and drove for an hour and half to a spot that I personally spend a lot of time camping and just hanging out with friends at. With an extra surprise for the photos we got some snow at the top of the gravel road we took to get to the spot. As a side note, if you ever are taking photos for people a cloudy day with snow always makes the perfect location and really makes the subject pop out of the photo. Let me lay the scene out for you, were at the top of a gravel road looking out over a valley with the majestic Mount Baker looming in the background with snow all around. As I’m sure you can imagine the scene was beautiful and the pictures turned out fantastic. Overall with this story I wanted to make a point to show that you can never plan on a single spot for photos because unexpected circumstance can always make that spot unusable. So make sure to always have a backup spot just in case you need to use it.
